Privacy Policy

Summary

ShiftText is a free text rewriting tool. We aim to collect the minimum data required to operate the service.

What we collect

• Text you submit. When you click Rewrite, your text is sent to our language-model provider (OpenRouter, which may route to providers such as DeepSeek, Meta, or Google) to generate the rewrite. The text is not stored on our servers after the response is returned.
• IP address. We use your IP address to enforce rate limits (3 rewrites per 24 hours per IP on the free tier). Stored in Upstash Redis with a rolling 24-hour retention.
• Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregate site usage. GA4 anonymizes IP addresses by default.
• Advertising cookies. If ads are served via Google AdSense, AdSense sets cookies to serve and measure personalized ads. See Google's advertising policies for details.

What we don't do

• We do not log or retain the content of your text beyond the single request.
• We do not sell data to third parties.
• We do not use your text to train models.

Third parties

We rely on the following providers:

• OpenRouter (language-model routing)
• Vercel (hosting)
• Upstash (rate-limit storage)
• Google Analytics (traffic measurement)
• Google AdSense (advertising)

Each has its own privacy policy, linked via their respective websites.

Your rights

If you are in the EU, UK, or California, you have rights regarding personal data under GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA respectively. Because we do not maintain user accounts or store submitted text, most such rights do not apply to persistent records on our servers. To inquire about data associated with your IP, contact us.
